BALANCE

I believe our bodies and our living habits should have a precise balance. That means if our living habits are going wrong, such as drink heavily, lack of sleep, improper diet, our bodies are going wrong as well, such as being sick, feeling tired, and lack of vitality. As our bodies and our mind are intimately connected by the nervous system. Creativity won't appear without a healthy body. And nowadays, we rely on medicine to keep our bodies healthy, but not a good living habit.

I tried to use a good living habit instead of medicine to fight with illness. Once, I felt not well, I avoid the improper food, which has too much oil and monosodium glutamate (MSG). I keep regular intake of water and adequate sleep. It works on me. The self-recovering ability recovered my body to get over the illness. This experiment reinforced my belief on the balanced living. Because of the intimately connection of body and mind, an energetic body will improve my creativity definitely.

WE HAVE TOO MUCH TIME

I listened many friends said how busy they are, how much work they have to handle, no time being with family and no time for themselves. I think not only my friends; most people think they don't have enough time. But I have a totally different point of view. I think our problem is WE HAVE TOO MUCH TIME. You may think it's unreasonable. Because the majority think time is like money, more is better. But please listen to me. I asked a friend about time. Here's our conversation.

I asked, "How long you think you will live to?"

He answered, "I think I still have 50 years to live."

He's 30 now. It's reasonable to think he will live to age of 80.

Then I asked, "If you had only half of 50 years, 25 years only to live, you think your life will change?"

He answered, "Nothing much different"

I asked, "How about 10 years only?"

He answered, "I will spend more time to travel, because I really enjoy traveling, and I will do more voluntary to help more people."

I asked, "How about 1 year?"

He answered, "I will definitely quit my job, go travel with my family. To go the place I really wanna go."

I think most people will have the similar answers. What did the answer told me? It told me that most people really know what is the most important in their lives.

But please count the hours we spent for the most important things per week.

10 hours, 5 hours or less?

And please count how many hours we spent for watching TV, playing video game, go shopping, singing karaoke, working overtime.

5 hours, 10 hours or more?

Most people spent more time on those minor activities than the most important thing. Because they think they have time still. My friend, he thinks he can live to age of 80. He didn't do the most important things right now, because he thinks he has 50 years to do it.

However, I'm so cruel to ask him a question.

Who tell you that you can live to age of 80?

Are you really sure you have 50 years left?

Why not 1 year? Why not 1 day?

To recall my statement, I think our problem is WE HAVE TOO MUCH TIME.

I would like to correct it to WE MISTHINK WE HAVE TOO MUCH TIME.

Thus, we forgot we are living at the moment of "Present". We spent our time for our future. We earned a lot of money for our retired life. We spent our time for our past. We used many nights to regret our mistake and our unhappy experience.

We always forgot the present. We always think we have too much time to waste.

LIVING IN THE BOX

Yahoo will tell you about 56,700,000 web site for Creativity, and Google will tell you about 62,000,000 for it. Psychological literature will show you more than 60 different definitions of creativity as well.

Let's keep it simple.

The dictionary told that Creativity is "The ability to invent".

Yes, Creativity is to invent something new. We will consider that the game with new gameplay is creative. We will consider that the movie with new narrative style is creative. But how about our lives? Our lives are creative? Do we have the ability to invent our lives?

To think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted. - 'George Kneller'

I believe Creativity really exist in our bodies after birth. From some children's drawing, you can see they can use the new perspective to describe things. In my childhood's drawing, I drew people with blue skin color, the TV in sphere sharp. But now, I think I lost this kind of imagination. Some surveys have shown that between the ages of five and seventeen, creativity decreases from 90% (at age five) to 10% (at age seventeen). That means we will gain different kind of abilities but lose creativity through growth.

It's no doubt that growth gained me knowledge through education, experience through trial, wisdom through my parents. But growth also gained me a box. A box of various boundaries, limitation and condition. Since I was educated, people told me a lot of "DO and DON'T". I really feel like living in a box. I was depressed in some periods of my life. I thought I really lost the meaning of life. I was just living under other people's will. I never thought my depression could be cured. I consider my depression is a part of my life, being with me in my coffin as well.
